Algae

1. The Zygotic meiosis and Gametic meiosis is seen in — Chlamydomonas (R/-palmella stage, ) also in Volvox (R/-gonidia – asex ep, pleka stage - 8 celled, anisogamous ) and Sargassum respectively.

2. The Heterotrichous algae are Ectocarpus, Cladophora, Polysiphonia.

3. The Stellate shaped chloroplast is seen in Zygnema. while Reticulate shaped in Oedogonium.

4. The minimum chromosome number in algae - n = 2 in Porphyra linearis while n = 592 maximum is in Netrium digitalis.

5. The reserve food material in algae belonging to

(1) Rhodophyceae — Floredean starch and galactan SO4 polymer.

(2) Phaeophyceae — Laminarin & Mannitol Oil.
